El-Barani Mosque is located in the Citadel district, at the corner of Mohamed Taleb Boulevard and Mosque Street. Mosque built in the Ottoman era; in 1653 and enlarged in 1818 to accommodate the tribunal de l’Agha, it was converted in 1839 into a church in the French colonial era and mosque again. It was classified in 1887.
